Our fishing plans were altered today near Hopewell NM. We encountered a severe winter storm en route to our original spot. Although, we did manage to get passed the storm and made it to Heron Lake where it was clear, but we could still feel the effects of the storm just 15 miles south.
Gorbachev to Lecture in Santa Fe

SANTA FE— The pro-green, anti-nuke message that Mikhail Gorbachev is expected to deliver during a speech in Santa Fe next month will come perhaps at a fitting time for northern New Mexico.
While Gorbachev prefers to deliver his remarks from notes jotted down on a notepad, an associate said environmentalism and nuclear disarmament— both hot topics in the City Different— will likely be themes of a lecture he’ll give during an April 14 visit, which is a fundraiser for the Santa Fe Institute.
“He’s called for the abolition of nuclear weapons,” said Matt Peterson, head of Global Green USA, the U.S. affiliate of Green Cross International, which Gorbachev founded in 1993.

Thanks to Prestigous Car Club who came out strong in support of Jdubbs CD release party. The show was right outside The Rock Christian Fellowship located in Espanola, NM which prides itself as being the Lowrider Capital of the world. The car display is an easy bait to attract youth and the locals to attend a free hip hop event.
Here are some photos of a few of rides who came out.

Report: N.M. still ranks among worst states for kids
Santa Fe New Mexican reports: “NM still ranks among the worst states for kids. On measures of child health and welfare, NM now ranks 47 of the Nation.” The report concludes “New Mexico has some of the worst rates in the nation for child deaths, teen deaths, teen births, high-school dropout, insecurely employed parents, child poverty, single parent families, idle teens; too many teens are twiddling their thumbs. They are neither in school nor working.

HYA was birthed out of a desire to reach out to youth through mentoring relationships. Youth are in trouble because they have no significant attachments to caring adults who can empower them to hope and have higher expectations for themselves.
Children and youth are a product of who they are connected to and disconnected from Hope for Youth Alliance believes that mentoring is the best back up plan for children and youth that come from broken families, and single parent homes. Children and youth need caring adults during their early development and so often they have been left alone and isolated to figure out things on their own. When caring adults are absent from young lives, they will turn to their peers, which in most cases leads to negative and unhealthy influences and lifestyles. It is my hope that youth will connect to a healthy and positive adult mentor who makes themselves readily available to them through HYA..
