Hebrews 9:26-29img_2652.JPG

26Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

No, in all these things we are more than Conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither hight nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What Love means to a 4-8 year old . . … I got this email from a friend and I am sharing it with you.

Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. Touching
words from the mouth of babes.

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8
year-olds, ‘What does love mean?’

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have
imagined See what you think:

When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her
toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even
when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.
Rebecca- age 8

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.’ Billy -
age 4

‘Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving
cologne and they go out and smell each other.
Karl - age 5

‘Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your
French fries without making them give you any of theirs.’
Chrissy - age 6

‘Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.’ Terri -
age 4

‘Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a
sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.’ Danny - age
7

‘Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of
kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and
Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss’
Emily - age 8

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop
opening presents and listen.’
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

‘If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a
friend who you hate,’
Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)

‘Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it
everyday.’
Noelle - age 7

‘Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are
still friends even after they know each other so well.’
Tommy- age 6

‘During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I
looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and
smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.’
Cindy - age 8

‘My mommy loves me more than anybody You don’t see anyone else
kissing me to sleep at night.’
Clare - age 6

‘Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.’
Elaine-age 5

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he
is handsomer than Robert Redford.’ Chris - age 7

‘Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him
alone all day.’
Mary Ann - age 4

‘I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old
clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’ Lauren - age 4

‘When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little
stars come out of you.’ (what an image) Karen - age 7

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think
it’s gross.’ Mark - age 6

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if
you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.’ Jessica - age 8

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was
an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old
gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little
boy said, ‘Nothing, I just helped him cry’

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that
God is all you need. Take 60 seconds and give this a shot! All you do is
simply say the following small prayer for the person who sent you this.

Heavenly Father, please bless all my friends in whatever it is that
You know they may be needing this day! And may their life be full of
Your peace, prosperity and power as he/she seeks to have a closer
relationship with You. Amen.

Faith and Deeds

14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

Here are some selected scriptures from the Bible…God’s Love gives one for all…

John 3: 16″For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Gods love for sinners in the act…

Romans 5: 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

You only get one chance at life…

Romans 9: 27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Jesus Christ the only bridge builder between God and man…

1 Timothy 2:5 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

Jesus Answered, “I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw the miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your full. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the on of Man can give you.”Luke 6:26-27

“But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” “My food,” said Jesus, “is to the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.”

Throughout my life, I’ve found that there are sometimes three possible answers to our prayers–”Yes,” “No,” or “Not Now.” I would like to think our prayers were answered with a “Not Now.”

Cowardice asks the question, “is it safe?” Expediency asks the question, “is it political?” And Vanity comes along and asks the question “is it popular?” But Conscience asks the question, “is it right?”  And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because Conscience tells him it is right.

Luke 12:35-38img_2652.JPG

35“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night.

On my recent flight to Phoenix Az, I captured a few photos from above the clouds and I thought about these promises from the bible.

The Coming of the Lord
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.
1 Thes.4: 13-17

First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

8But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.1 Peter 3:3-10

2 Corinthians 4:7-10 img_2652.JPG

7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

FATHER OF JESUS,
Dawn returns, but without they light within no outward light can profit;
Give me the saving lamp of they Spirit that I may see thee,
the God of my salvation, the delight of my soul, rejoicing over me in love.
I commend my heart to thy watchful care, for I know its treachery and power;
Guard its every portal from the wily enemy,
Give me quick dicernment of his dealy arts,
Help me to recognize his bold disguise as an angel of ligt, and bid him begone.
May my words and works allure others to the highest walks of faith and love!
May loiters be quickened to greater diligence by my example!
May worldlings be won to delight in the acquaintence with thee!
May the timid and irresolute be warned of coming doom by my zeal for Jesus!
Cause me to be a mirrior of thy grace, to show to others the joy of thy service,
May my lips be well-tuned cymbals sounding thy praise,
let halo of heavenly-mindedness sparkle around me
and a lamp of kindness sunbeam my path.
Teach me the happy art of attending to things temporal
with the a mind intent on things eternal.
Send me forth to have compassion on the ignorant and miserable.
Help me to walk as Jesus walked, my only Savior and perfect model,
His mind my inward guest, his meakness my covering garb.
Let my happy place be amongst the poor in spirit,
my delight the gentle ranks of the meek.
Let me always esteem others better than myslef, and find true humility
and heirdom to two worlds.
