Yesterday, I signed the following pledge:

AMERICANS for BETTER IMMIGRATION

NO AMNESTY PLEDGE

“I pledge to oppose amnesty or any other special path to citizenship for the millions of foreign nationals unlawfully present in the United States. As President, I will fully implement enforcement measures that, over time, will lead to the attrition of our illegal immigrant population. I also pledge to make security of our borders a top priority of my administration.” Source Mike Huckabee.com

Here is one Latino Pastors advice to Mike Huckabee.

Mike, on this issue you must not be so rigid. Enforcing this pledge would tear families apart. Ex 22:21 gives a better perspective. I am Hispanic and a pastor, a strong conservative. There is an answer to the immigration problem - one the Lord Jesus Christ would approve of. Prov. 6: 1-5 gives you a way out of the rigidity of this pledge. Most hispanic citizens compassionately connect to the immigrant by culture, history, faith, or language. The sons and daughters of immigrants are here to stay as citizens. Understanding them and leading with them the way Christ would want us to is a better way of creating an answer to the immigration issue. I don’t disagree that the border needs to be sealed.

I will support your candidacy. On this issue I will receive resistance if you don’t soften your position.
